Eu participei de um grupo de apoio ao TOC dirigido por um facilitador voluntário da WayAhead. Os outros participantes foram adoráveis. Mas o grupo ficou realmente decepcionado com o facilitador muito inexperiente. Enviei um e-mail para a WayAhead e recebi uma resposta muito profissional e atenciosa dizendo que eles iriam investigar.
Sou alguém que sofre de depressão, ansiedade e transtorno obsessivo-compulsivo há muitos anos. Tive a sorte de obter atendimento de primeira classe por meio do sistema privado de saúde mental por ter a cobertura da Bupa. Participei de muitos grupos terapêuticos / de apoio em relação aos meus problemas como resultado de obter ajuda através do sistema privado. Honestamente, a facilitação de grupos de apoio é um dos trabalhos mais exigentes que qualquer psicólogo altamente treinado ou profissional de saúde mental aliado jamais fará e requer um conjunto de habilidades formidável.
Fiquei preocupado quando, olhando através de um site de oportunidades de voluntariado, vi o anúncio do WayAhead para facilitadores de grupos de apoio e o único pré-requisito era um curso de treinamento de um dia e também ser uma posição adequada para pessoas que precisam atender aos requisitos de obrigações mútuas do Centrelink.
Aconselho a qualquer pessoa que queira participar de grupos de apoio de TOC / Ansiedade WayAhead que, embora possa haver alguns voluntários altamente qualificados a bordo, também pode haver alguns pouco qualificados facilitando grupos. No grupo que participei, uma senhora ficou muito chateada, chorava e a facilitadora não tinha ideia do que fazer. Felizmente, alguns outros no grupo, incluindo eu, tinham habilidades / treinamento de mentoria de colegas de saúde mental e eu tinha um pequeno pacote fechado de lenços de papel para dar a ela.
Eu recomendo fortemente que, antes de se envolver com grupos de apoio administrados pela WayAhead, você acesse os serviços de um psicólogo individual que você pode obter através de uma referência de GP que lhe dá direito a 10 sessões (você não precisa de cobertura privada para acessar isso) .
