Sobre Indigenous environmental network

A Rede Ambiental Indígena (IEN) é uma organização sem fins lucrativos fundada em 1990. É uma aliança de povos indígenas de base cuja missão é proteger a sacralidade da Mãe Terra da contaminação e exploração, fortalecendo, mantendo e respeitando os ensinamentos tradicionais e leis naturais. A organização está na vanguarda dos movimentos de justiça ambiental há mais de três décadas.

O IEN trabalha para criar comunidades sustentáveis, promovendo fontes de energia renováveis, reduzindo as emissões de gases de efeito estufa e defendendo políticas que protejam o meio ambiente. A organização também se concentra em proteger terras indígenas, águas, culturas e locais sagrados da destruição causada por indústrias extrativas, como mineração, perfuração de petróleo, fraturamento hidráulico e construção de oleodutos.

Um dos principais objetivos do IEN é capacitar as comunidades indígenas a assumir o controle de seus próprios recursos por meio da educação e da defesa.
