Girls for a Change: empoderando meninas negras para mudar o mundo
Girls For A Change (GFAC) é uma organização sem fins lucrativos que visa capacitar meninas negras e prepará-las para o mundo. A organização foi fundada em 2000 por três mulheres que queriam criar um espaço seguro onde jovens negras pudessem se reunir, compartilhar suas experiências e aprender umas com as outras.
A missão do GFAC é inspirar meninas negras a se tornarem líderes de mudança em suas comunidades. A organização oferece programas e recursos que ajudam as meninas a desenvolver habilidades de liderança, desenvolver autoconfiança e aprender sobre questões de justiça social.
Um dos principais programas oferecidos pelo GFAC é o Girl Action Teams (GATs). Essas equipes consistem em grupos de 8 a 12 meninas que trabalham juntas em projetos que abordam questões sociais em suas comunidades. Os GATs são liderados por facilitadores treinados que fornecem orientação e suporte ao longo do projeto.
Outro programa oferecido pelo GFAC é a Change Your World Academy (CYWA). Este programa oferece treinamento intensivo para meninas em idade escolar interessadas em se tornarem líderes em suas comunidades. O currículo da CYWA inclui workshops sobre desenvolvimento de liderança, oratória, organização comunitária e muito mais.
