Moro em Anacortes e através do trabalho participo dos almoços mensais da Câmara. As reuniões estão sempre cheias de informações sobre a cidade de Anacortes e ótimos networking.

Quando nos mudamos para Anacortes, há dez anos, expandimos nossos negócios para a região e nos tornamos membros da Câmara de Comércio de Anacortes. Inicialmente, fomos bem recebidos como novos membros e, como outros negócios da cidade, participamos de eventos de câmara e engajamos em seus sites de mídia social. Percebemos que fomos impedidos de nos engajar em sua página do Facebook e perguntamos por que fomos bloqueados, ao contrário de outras empresas, empresas que eram mais antigas e mais estabelecidas com a Câmara, tiveram privilégios e nosso negócio não. Recebemos respostas vagas que não abordaram nossa preocupação e, até hoje, estamos impedidos de nos envolver com a página da câmara no Facebook. Decidimos encerrar nossa associação porque éramos preocupados com a discriminação em relação ao nosso negócio e a falta de acesso às comunicações online da câmara. Tenha cuidado se você for uma empresa nova na cidade: não vimos nenhum benefício com a associação e fomos tratados de maneira diferente de outras empresas estabelecidas mais antigas.

Tive de visitar o escritório de Licenciamento de Veículos em Anacortes, que ficava no escritório da Câmara de Comércio no Comércio. Eu não ia lá há anos e apenas pensei que fosse o mesmo escritório. A mulher na Câmara de Comércio, BETTY, olhou para mim e disse: 'Recue três degraus e olhe para a sua esquerda. EU DISSE BACK UP e olhe para a sua esquerda. "Bem, minha esquerda era Commercial St e eu disse, 'Esquerda?' E ela olhou para mim como se eu fosse o idiota do século e disse: 'Sim, eu disse esquerda. Você verá uma placa ENORME, então volte e olhe. " OMG, ela foi tão rude. Usar esse tom de voz é inaceitável, especialmente na posição em que ela está. Horrível.
