Eksi Sozluk (Sour Dictionary) is a collaborative hypertext dictionary which is based on the concept of web sites built on user contribution. Users who want to become writers in this community need to post at least 10 entries on the site. Those entries are then inspected by a group of panelists in order to select the most qualified writers for their online public sphere. Entries are reviewed by moderators based on user feedback and reports. Eksi Sozluk is updated daily and has an average of 350 posts from each writer. Currently, it has more than 400,000 registered users and 54,000 writers who provide information on various topics ranging from science and technology to everyday life issues. Eksi Sozluk was founded by Sedat Kapanoglu in 1999.
