Aiken Youth Empowerment (AYE) began as the Aiken County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Council, a 501(c)3 organization, in 1994. Since changing its name and merging with another local nonprofit agency, Helping Hands, Inc., who is also dedicated to the well-being of children, youth and families, AYE has continuously partnered with several local schools and various youth-serving agencies in Aiken County. In these partnerships, our trained Community Educators strive to give children, youth, their parents or guardians and teachers the tools they need in order to enrich their lives and to begin the process of making (or teaching) healthier decisions. The various research-proven curricula utilized through AYE's programs are administered to prevent risk-taking behaviors, promote healthy decision-making and also foster parent/child relationships and increase their communication.
