Foreman is an open source lifecycle management tool for physical and virtual servers. It helps system administrators manage servers throughout their lifecycle, from provisioning and configuration to orchestration and monitoring. It provides interaction facilities, including a web frontend, CLI, and RESTful API. System administrators can use Puppet or Chef and Foreman’s smart proxy architecture to automate repetitive tasks, deploy applications, and manage change, both on-premise with VMs and bare-metal or in the cloud. They can collect Puppet, Chef, and Salt reports and facts; and monitor host configuration, report status, distribution, and trends.
